TO ALL MY LITERATE GRADE 9 STUDENTS...
Before anything else, let me wish you and your families an ADVANCE MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2009...!
Now...down to business...! I have a number of HOLIDAY HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS for you to work on given the 15 days you are going to "miss" seeing me and/or “miss” being in my class.
FIRST…you have the entire break to re-read and understand the story POISON by Roald Dahl, in case you have not done so yet. Answer numbers 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 on page 91 (NB). I will be giving you a Check-UP Quiz on this story when we return from the holidays so be prepared…!
SECOND…be ready to discuss the story OMAM as soon as we get back. We will be working on that first before POISON...!
THIRD...you should be memorizing, planning, and working on your ROMEO & JULIET Scenes already. I am going to ask for an update from every group on what you have already accomplished by the time we get back to school in January. Make sure to take note of the workers and the slackers in your group for peer rating purposes…!
FOURTH…We will begin discussing ACT ONE of ROMEO & JULIET sometime before the Chinese New Year Break. Make sure to start understanding the lines little by little so that you will not have to do it all last minute again. By then, we should’ve been done with our OMAM and POISON discussion already
FIFTH…on an A4/F12/DS/TNR, write me an essay on how your Christmas Break was…try to be as honest as possible in relating the events that transpired during your holidays…if it was boring, then write about it…if it was fun, then tell me what made it fun. This one you will not be able to do until after the New Year, so I suppose you’ll have to leave it for last…!
LASTLY…you will be having your Literary Terms MT as soon as we get back from the holidays…I will be making an announcement regarding exemption from taking it by the time we get back…!
That’s All Folks! Have a Safe and Wonderful Christmas Holidays and come back refreshed and ready to Rock-N-Roll for the Second Semester. Be good and get all your homework/assignments out of the way as soon as possible so that you can enjoy your break to the max…CIAO!!!

GREETINGS, MY PRECIOUS FRIENDS...!
Since it will not be until Tuesday, 02 December 2008, that we will meet, I am left with no other choice but to give you extra work on the current story we are reading...The Birds...in preparation for your coming Mastery Test!
On an A4/F12/DS/TNR, list down 15 series of events that took place in the story from beginning to end. In class today, we did a similar thing where we went through the sequence of things that happened in the plot of the story. I want you to do the same, however, this time, I want you to choose the events you think are pertinent to the story.
Your first one should be..."Nat Hocken believes that this is going to be a dark winter indeed."...and your number 15 should be..."Nat Hocken threw the empty packet on the fire and watched it burn."...!
Fifteen minus two...you only have 13 more to think about...but remember, all those 13 series of events should be enough to describe and discuss the entire story.
That's All Folks!!! I want this turned in to me on Friday, 28 November 2008, no later than period after lunch. Once we head over to the gym at 1:30PM for the concert, I will no longer accept papers. Take care and be safe...study well and be good...don't miss me too much...CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY LITERATURE 9C STUDES...
GREETINGS!
I sure hope you are not missing me too much yet at this point...hehehe! Anyways, here are your Quarter Break Homework/Assignments which I will expect you to have completed by the time we get back to school on Monday, 27 October 2008.
I have a number of QUARTER BREAK HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS for you to work on given the 9 days you are going to "miss" seeing me and/or “miss” being in my class.
FIRST…you have the entire Quarter Break to read, review (if you’ve read it before!), and take notes on our next class novel, The Princess Bride…we are going to immediately get our discussion going as soon as we return from the break…!
SECOND…alone or with a partner, figure out what you think might have happened next after the climactic part of the story A Sound Of Thunder. Then, write a continuation of that story and give it a good “closed” ending. I am going to collect and check this as soon as we get back to class so make sure you have it on an A4/F12/DS/TNR. …!
THIRD…read and understand The BIRDS (pp. 50-75) and make sure to take notes on it for discussion purposes. Answer Reading Check, Shaping Interpretations, Extending the Text, and Challenging the Text on page 77 (NB)…!
FOURTH…prepare for a Literary Terms Test and a Vocabulary Terms Test as soon as we get back from the break. Be aware that the Literary Terms Test is already going to be an application of the words/terms and not anymore just meanings…!
FIFTH…now that we are done with Lord of the Flies, our next stop is Of Mice and Men. In case you have not started reading this story, may I suggest that you begin it because we are going to work on this for the Second Quarter. Do not forget to take notes so you won’t forget what you read.
LASTLY… on Friday, 24 October 2008, I am going to post a blog for you to respond to. You will have the whole day of Friday and the whole day of Saturday, 25 October 2008, to post your responses. I am going to close that blog on the evening of Saturday between 7:00PM to 11:59PM…!
That’s All Folks! Have a Safe and Wonderful Quarter Break and come back refreshed and ready to Rock-N-Roll for the second part of the semester. Be good and get all your homework/assignments out of the way as soon as possible so that you can enjoy your break to the max…CIAO!!!
